The Bikes on the Bricks Police Motor Training Seminar held its first session back in September of 2007 with 9 local motor officers participating. In 2012, Bikes on the Bricks hosted 70 motor officers from Minnesota to New York including several Canadian motor officers from across the Ontario and Ottawa region.
This event is unique in that it is held in the center of downtown Flint on a surface lot while a civilian custom motorcycle show is taking place in the surrounding city streets. In 2012 it is estimated that 20,000 spectators showed up during the three day event. While officers are practicing their slow riding skills within the courses, a handful of officers are escorted to a secured area where they encounter a simulated felony traffic stop. It is here where they use live round simmunitions to control situation.
The Seminar will be held this year on September 13th, 14th, and 15th. Practice takes place on Friday and Saturday and concludes with the main event on Sunday. Registration will begin on-line in the early spring. Due to the size of our surface lot, registration is limited to the first 80 motor officers. This event is free except for the cost of lodging.
